Tough day on Naconiche... one of the hottest days I can remember. Launched around 11 a.m. in sweltering heat, water temp 92, water stained, no breeze. Explored new areas looking for grass that comes out to 8 feet as that's the areas I've been finding fish the previous two trips there.

Caught a lot of dinks today and none of the chunky three pounders I've been catching. Did I mention it was hot? I was melting. I must have dabbed my eyes with towel every 5 minutes as the sweat and sunscreen were burning so bad. The heat got so bad that I poured my melting ice down my back, into my wide brimmed hat and sat the rest down in my lap. roflmao Only two or three other boats on the lake and they were moving around a lot. Never had anyone near me until later in the day when I was leaving.. and just after I caught this one.

Made my day.

Nice!

The humidity, heat index, with hardly a breeze have been insane

Iconn4/All,

I am tentatively planning to be out there Saturday, 10/27, maybe a day earlier if the weather makes a difference.

Benny H. and his tribe will be there 10/24 through 10/27 . . . making a multiple day fishing trip out there for the fall bite. They did well last April in cold weather that weekend.

Lots of lake, so the more the merrier, no one crowds the other and it is nice to get a group together.

Anyway, for anyone who hasn't been on the lake, should be some nice weather, some others out there those particular days.

I go out solo most of the time, certainly on Athens, but always prefer a small group for safety, more fun that way to exchange information.

Brad

Yes Iconn4, Brad and some of us have a fall trip planned down there end of October. Would enjoy any other folks who would like to join us. The lake isn't huge but it fishes big because there are so many dang good spots. Hoping the temps have cooled the water down enough to get those better sized ones a little more active. Last year we went about mid-October and had a blast. Went in April this year and weather was terrible (cold front, high winds) but still did real good. So our trip is about a month away. Can't wait for it to get here!

I might try to sneak away and head up there on the 28th. The 27th is my sons birthday party so couldnt make it that Saturday. I've never seen the lake before. Always wanted to fish it though.
