Im helping a family member with his 1998 nitro 700lx. His motor blew, had it replaced with a 1996 75hp mercury Saturday. This thing will not plane out. This model came with motors ranging from 60-115 so surely this 75 is enough. The shop that did the engine swap agreed it would be enough. Even with just 1 person in it the motor revs to 3500rpm WOT. The one time we did get it on plane it would then rev to 5000. The prop is a Stilleto 13 1/4 21P 3-blade. My instinct says it needs a 15-18P prop, but I dont know much about it. Any tips?

It's all about your prop. And that prop is a turd.
Call Steves at fork, that boat runs good with a powertech four blade with small vents, probably looking at a 18P to get it up and gone.
