1993 Evinrude 15 HP
2 Stroke
Short Shaft
Tiller
Manual Start
Manual Tilt/Trim

198x Mercury 18XD
2 Stroke
Short Shaft
Tiller
Manual Start
Manual Tilt/Trim

They both run very well. I'd like to sale one or both of them to fund a Backwater longtail motor. What are they worth?

Thanks,
Ty

If they have good compression, $200-250 each. They might be worth much more, but if they need a new impeller, plug wires, points & condensers,a carburetor kit, they could need a few hundred dollars to make them functional. Ask an outboard mechanic how much he would give for them. Reality check. IslandJim

Oh, yeah: You've got Texas titles for them, right? IslandJim

If you have clean titles for them and they start and run I wouldn't sell for less than $500.

smoothmove: January 1, 1994. If you sell an outboard motor that was never titled, you and/or the new owner are SUPPOSED to apply for a title. That's the law. Many(or most) do not. I have a 1961 Johnson on my skiff. I have been asked many times for my boat papers by Game Wardens, but never have they asked about the outboard.

Thank you guys for the info.

I've got TX title in hand on both.

Both start within the first 3 pulls & run great.
Merc had new water pump impeller in July.
Evinrude had carb kit, water pump, fuel pump, thermostat & plugs within the last year.

I may post them here in the for sale section. But honestly, at the prices y'all are talking above, I'll probably just end up keeping them.

Now that you have supplied important information, they could bring $600-800, each. Depends on your market. I wouldn't expect Midland to be a hot market for boat stuff, this time of year. give it a shot, and good luck.

Your market will be targeting the duck hunting crowd this fall. Still, even running well with papers, old small motors... 500 ish a piece would be more than fair and I'd take it if you can get it.

I'd say quick sale $500. Otherwise the 15hp could go $700-$1000, but you would likely sell it quicker if you we're willing to travel and meet the buyer. Good luck with the sale.

Go look on craigslist for what stuff is going for. Economy is up, used motors going at premium prices. Running with papper work ask 1000 each. You may not get 1000 but you can set your mind on a price and allow it to be negotiated down.
