You do. I resisted this for several years but finally took a trip with Pat and saw it in action. I purchased one and installed it on my pontoon. After having it for a few months I couldnt live without it. I dont need buoy markers anymore. I know where the underwater cover is exactly before I get over it. Even if the wind moves my boat around a bit I always know where the cover is. See the tree on the screen, The dark tree shown is the shadow. Bushpiles show up differently, more like a smear of dark color. Fish show up as white marks on the screen. All the technology available today makes fishing much more efficient. Take advantage of it if you can.

I wont fish without one, what I do when I get on the tree or brush is bring in my distance where almost only the water colum is on the screen. and raise my sensitivity way high and I can see fish In between branches and limbs.

I yearn for the days of expensive "fishing toys" (yes, I know they're needed for you experts ) . Beats dropping and picking up (winding) of bouys for sure.

For sure 360 is great and I hope it is in my future. In the mean time I mounted the new Helix 9 Mega GPS on the bow with TM transducer. Now when di shows on structure I waypoint it and in the future I only use the console 10 first gen to get near the area and then move up to the bow. Puts me back just where I want to be with no guessing/searching. And puck with direction sitting next to the 9 also tells me how to get directly to the other waypoints in the area with even better accuracy.

Thank you for all you share Earnest. I disagree whole heartedly yet respectfully with big cat. Pros can read the old flashers but an ametuer such as myself can contend with a pro with the gps, lakemaps, incredible images and ability to flat out know there are fish there. I completely agree that it makes time on the water way more efficient which adds to the point that it benefits an amateur way more. I realize not everyone can afford all the bells and whistles but wholeheartedly wish everyone could get the helix 9 MEGA with a lakemaster map at the very least. Very easy to use, install and catch fish!

Hi Greg. I appreciate the courtesy and I know Ernest pretty well, even have helped him cut brush and lay down a pile or two every now and then, since we both fish out of Pier 121.
I'm sorry if my post came off negative or mean toward old timers (believe me when I say, that's not the case at all from this about to be 52 year old grumpy ol' meteorologist). I was just giving him a hard time, as he has a niece that's finishing up at A&M, while my daughter is a freshman there. I love haggling with Ernest, Guy, Horace, and all the rest of my fishing buddies at 121.
I agree with you and will always respect those more skilled and who came well before me. Have a super evening, sir.

It's like any other piece of technology. Once you get to using it and understanding if you don't want to go to the lake without it! It's worth the price of admission for submerged timber alone!! CAT AOY in D1 and D2 this year were both using it I know.

Did not take it that way at all sir! Just trying to help those who are on the fence about their technology. I dont post much but felt compelled to offer a different view for those that cant decide whether to cough up that kind of money! I am and old man man yself who remembers trying to find a brush pile that I had sunk by land marks and couldnt tell if there were fish on it or not. These new graphs amaze me.
