Fish ID - anyone know what this fish is

It kind of looks like a tilapia, but we have cold winters.
Can anyone positively identify it?

Caught one that looked just like that on Squaw Creek, I thought it was a tilapia.

BTW, the black crappie record with a picture is actually a male white crappie. They get dark like that during the spawn. The dark vertical bars indicate that it is a white crappie.

I see that it hit a Ned rig. I've caught all kinds of random fish on those things.

Very good call. Didn't know we had them in Texas. I only knew them from Florida. Interesting catch for sure!!

likely dumped from an aquarium and wouldnt have made thru a cold winter
