I like the trailer mod in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhDpxCDP6fY

This is what I am starting with: https://www.fthr.com/products/commercial-and-utility-trailers/flatbed/1683-flatbed-trailer

I also see a whole bunch of trailer mods with Uni-strut and 3" PVC tubing. They usually mount the Uni-strut with U-bolts. Since this isn't just a tubular trailer, that option doesn't look like the best to me.

What do you think is the best way to mount the Uni-strut to this trailer? Just drill holes in the aluminum and mount the Uni-Strut? I weld, but I don't weld aluminum, I would have to hire that job out. Still not sure if the tongue is long enough for a 12 to 14" kayak.

Lots of options and need to get to a resolution sooner than later. I just feel like I don't need to recreate the wheel here. I could use a helping hand from those with trailer mod experience.

Thanks for ideas on mods to this Featherlite.

Decided to keep this as a utility trailer and bought this 4 boat trailer instead.

A neighbor had a Triton 4-kayak trailer. It's as nice a trailer as I have seen. Wash it after every use, spray the (few) exposed non-aluminum parts with Boeshield, and it should last decades! Congrats! IslandJim

Thanks for the comments IslandJim. I've never used or heard of Boeshield. I'll check it out.
