Lake Fork Anglers Hard Core (Major League Fishing format) is pretty cool getting to count every fish you catch.

As described below section 1 is all of Big Caney, Section 2 is from where section 1 ends and goes north to the FM 515 West bridge. Section 3 is everything from the 515 w bridge north.

Like the real TV show every fish over 10" counts. You must catch 6 LB + in one of the qualifying tournaments to move into the semi-final. We set it low so most of our members would make to the second level. But there is three ways to qualify.

Today they fished section 2. Even though August has not been that bad up until today, except for one angler it really was bad. Did I say bad? Whew.

Registration is now over at 6:15 AM and fishing starts at 6:16 AM. So, conceivably if you plan it right you can be on the water and at your starting spot before the sun gets up and there might be a top water bite.

So for the boater winner catching all of their fish before it got light paid off using swimbaits and rattle traps.
Boaters:

First place went to Jack white of Yantis with 4.30 lb. on 4 fish with a 1.43 lunker.
Second place went to Don Overstreet of Sulphur Springs again with 3 bass for 3.37 with a 1.61 lunker.
Third place went to Galen Smith of Alba with 2 fish for 2.97 anchored by a 2.12 lunker.
Fourth place went to Dennis Bubinas of Lake Fork with 3 bass for 2.6 with a .98 lunker.
Fifth place went to Charlie Abresch of Hawkins with 1 bass for 2.36 anchored which was the boater lunker.

Co-Anglers

First place went to Stijn Lens of Belgium with 3 bass for 8.84 with THE 6.27 Co-Angler lunker on a drop shot.
Second place went to Don Cox of Garland with 3 bass for 4.47 anchored by a 1.80 lunker.
Third place went to with Ken Kielbas of Arlington with 4 bass for 4.35 with a 1.35 lunker.
Fourth place went to Charlie Arnold of Lake Fork with 2 bass for 4.09 with a 2.74 lunker.
Fifth place went to Jackie Price of Alba with 2 bass for 2.36 with a 1.52 lunker.

38 Total fish were caught today on what most thought of as a real tough day with 3 skunks.

For info on fishing this tournament and others put on by the Lake Fork Anglers contact me at sjbasser@aol.com or PM me on here. We have openings for both boaters and co-anglers right now. This is a club that fishes only on Thursday daytime. Dues are $5 a year.

All of our tournaments are priced for seniors as follows. $15 entry Payback of $12. Optional lunker pool 100% payback of $5. Optional 100% payback side pot for $10 per person.

In addition to this format that we call "Hard Core" we also fish our regular every other Thursday tournament, and a team tournament all at Lake Fork on a draw style fishing. All of our tournaments "paper" the bass and slot fish count.

If you are as "Hard Core" as some of us you can fish every Thursday like we do. And some Fridays too. And then Opens on the weekend. But you only really have to fish 8 regular LFA tournaments to maintain membership.

Hey we are seniors and we are supposed to be doing something to keep us healthy and our minds sharp and get some vitamin D. LOL At least that is what you need to tell your wife.
