I did not know that. I will try this later this afternoon. Pics to follow.

That can get you in as much trouble in the workplace as physical contact.

I've learned not even tell a female coworker she looks nice, "unless" we are really good friends, but saying "nice," is about it.

Male educators also know better than to be alone with a female student in a room, especially with the door closed.

People are predators these days, and I'm talking about "victims" looking to "accuse" someone for something that was once innocent, like a hug or compliment.

Last year I was leaning on a counter in the main hallway of the school. The SPED teachers and students were walking by during 2nd period, same as they do every day, no biggie.

I said, "Hello," then did the same, just like every day.

One older female teacher was just very smiley and in a good mood. As she walked by, after we both smiled and acknowledged each other, she said, "Boy I sure would like to get in those pants." I straightened up, let my brain process what I just heard, then sort of laughed it off. I told two other male teachers who couldn't believe it, but I left it at that. I saw no reason for "me" to get so bent out of shape that I'd report it. Actually...

...best compliment I've had in a while!

...wisdom

We get the gamut of HR training classes assigned periodically. Harrassment or is it HerAssment in the Workplace covers all this. Watch a video, read a slide show, answer the quiz, etc. I guess it is a good thing. I am afraid to even touch myself in the workplace.

Should tap at times to keep them from turning around and walking into me. I never hug a co worker.

That’s the world we live in, so I avoid it, other than a handshake.

Funny story: we were at a trade show that our European office also attended. A close coworker of mine saw one of our counterparts from the European office he had met a few times. She came over to give him a hug and the European kiss on each cheek, which my coworker was ready for.

Unfortunately for my coworker, they accidentally met in the middle and kissed each other on the lips. He was extremely embarrassed, as she was, but her embarrassment manifested as anger. My coworker thought it was funny, because it was an accident, but still felt bad. It was awkward for me, as I witnessed the entire thing.

She didn’t go to HR, thankfully, and no longer works for our company.

I try to keep my comments to women tasteful. Like yesterday I told a woman, “I bet you were really attractive before you had those three kids.” Or if you want to know someone’s ethnicity you should ask something like “what exactly are you, anyways?”
This has kept me out of a lot of hot water. You can’t be too careful these days.
