Yes, but then so much fun too! I picked up a fly rod a few years ago and love getting after the Blue Gills in May. One reason I like the Bream Killer fly so much is because it's so easy to fish, just lay it out and let it sink, watch the line after you can't see the fly any longer and wait for it to jump, lol!

You should really give that a shot! I went to Walmart and bought a fly Rod rig with some flies for about $20 and after a big fish took my fly and turned me every way but loose and then let me loose by breaking my line, I was hooked and bought a little better rod and reel, but that all so far, lol!

I have a fly rod, I actually pulled it out a couple years ago to give it another shot but there's something i'm not doing right....
I may have to give it another go when the bream go back shallow....

Hey man you don't have to get it out all that far, but there are some tricks or easy ways to do that and just take a small amount of practice. I will see what I can find to help more than I can typing. However if you have some line out a little ways, you can just lift your rod bringing the line in as you lift, then once the rod is at least straight up with a quick take off pull the ron back down and it will roll that fly out farther. I am sure there are some good lessons on the internet!

I'll have to give that a go....

The trick to a fly rod it to move it forward when you cast and not down. If you push it down the fly and all your line will pile up in the water and won't go very far. Push the rod with a stiff wrist in the trajectory you want the cast to go and let gravity bring it down to the water. Casting a fly rod is almost as much fun as catching fish when you get it down.
