I am building a 30 X 26 covered shed for my boat and camper at the lake. 4 inch I Beams cemented in the ground for supports. Then I was going to run 6 inch C purlin all around the perimeter. Then use more 6-inch C purlin welded on to that to build the stringers for a metal roof.
Question is: Am I ok using the 6-inch C purlin on top of the vertical I beams (there will be 9 I beams)?

I suggest getting round or square for posts, cap with a plate and then get 3 trusses.
Then you can run 4 inch perlis spaced at 4' to attach sheets.
No posts in the middle to worry about.
