It looks like I may have the opertunity to go to Beavers Bend in October. I have never been to Beavers Bend, nor have I been Trout fishing.
Any advice?
Weight rod? (I am not assuming and asking questions! LOL)
Do I need waiters?
Any insight on extra items to take?

5 weight rod and line. I doubt you will need waiters unless you are going to a fancy dining place. Waders are optional Most likely you will be nymphing, so take various forms of BWO's, caddis, and general subsurface patterns. 4x or 5x tippet. Indicators. Weather is usually pretty nice in October. Also try and google Beavers Bend Message Board - lots of info there. Just read up and soak it in. So much information......

Wooly buggers, San Juan worms, zebra midges, and egg patterns are about all you need for trout. 5weight rod, 4-5x leader with 4-5x fluorocarbon tippet. Throw some clouser minnows and some big ugly streamers in the in case you find some warm water species.

By October the crowds will have died down some, but it will be less crowded if you can get out there midweek. Check out Evening Hole and Spillway Creek. Those are probably the two most popular areas in the park to fish, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't fish them.

Good call. And if you will be in Spillway Creek then a wading staff is not a bad idea. The rocks are really slippery and it is best to not step on any rock bigger than your foot. Even the most stable-looking rock has a way of tilting at just the wrong time and sending you into the drink.

Yall are awesome.
I will see about the felt boots. I will eventually need a set anyway.
What size hooks? LOL. I have wooly buggers, but they are on size 4, 6, 8, and 10 size hooks.

Woollies size 4-10, even 12. Most other nymphs size 16-22.

Duane The fly shop in the state park rents waders and boots. But if you're fishing more than a day or two you may be better off to buy some. I picked up my boots at BPS. I think Korkers is the brand. They have interchangeable felt and rubber soles. And you can buy the studded soles as well if you want. I don't fly fish so I'll be of no help on the hook sizes. But they guy who runs the fly shop is super nice. If you call them I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you everything you need to know. Beaver's Bend Fly Shop.

When in doubt, set the hook.

Felt with studs are your best bet up there. Those rocks are slick.

Im good but thank you.
I have debated it both ways. For this trip I will eather rent the boots and waiters when I get there or just get wet. LOL. Ill let the guide tell us how we are fishing that day.
The big take away for me is to remembering to take an extra set of cloths either way.
I am just the type of person who likes having thier own gear. This may sound silly to some, but it is also one of the reason I ask so many questions. LOL. This will also allow me to stay and fish after our time is over with the guide if I want to want to.
