OK so I just purchased a 2018 RT 198P Ranger and from the very beginning it is been bad Ive purchased it from Cabelas in Allen Texas. I took my boat did my break-in and noticed that there was water getting in the hall so I bilge it out and thought that maybe the plug wasnt seating correctly then Ill check it out one more time in the same thing happened and then I brought it back to Cabelas and they said my transom wasnt sealed properly from the factory then they gave me my boat back and I took it out again in the same thing happened And the PSI gauge hose on the dash came loose and started spraying water all over my feet and at that point I decided to look for the week myself within 30 seconds I found a screw poking through the bottom of my brand new $32,000 aluminum boat now they looked at the boat And now Ranger wants my boat back and wants to redo it theres only one problem I make My first payment in six days and Ive yet to have a boat I need to know what I need to do, they said Ranger could have my boat for up to three months thats three months making a payment on a boat that I have yet to use and at this point Ive called corporate Cabelas three times and no one has responded to me on the coporate side

Sorry to hear about the problems with the boat. The hard reality is that boat problems and payment due dates are unrelated. You have a bank note that you signed and are obligated to make payments on time. The worst thing to do is skip payments in some sort of protest. The only one hurt in that is you. Not making a payment is between you and the bank, nothing to do with the builder or dealer. Late payments will haunt you for a very long time. It will be interesting to see if the screw was put in while building or rigging at the dealership. With that being said - I would try very hard to seek some sort or compensation from the builder. Both Cabala's and Ranger have been around for a very long time. Ranger now has solid ownership and a pissed customer does not do anyone any good. Take up your case with the builder and dealer and stay on it - WHILE MAKING PAYMENTS ON TIME. You asked for opinions and that is mine. Thank you, Ken

Work with Ranger. I've found that they will take care of their customers time and again.

Document (including conversations) everything in writing with: whom, dates, times, and photos. Be prepared to make a factual, not emotional, argument by restating the facts to all whom represent Cabela's (the dealer) and Ranger (the manufacturer). Copy both on all communication.
I agree with reclending.com regarding "loss of use" not having any impact on your financing relationship with your creditor. Do not let this situation affect the term and conditions of your loan. Also doubt you have much of a "diminished value" argument - appears to be relatively insignificant damages at first blush.
I too believe Ranger will make it right.
My $.02...
Ps. Just realized this is a relatively old thread. Let us know How it went...
