I had sold most of my bass rods a while back since I now fish saltwater for trout/reds most of the time being 15 mins from Galveston. Most of my rods now are medium light trout rods from Waterloo and a few custom rods. Wanting to get some new bass rods.
What are some rods yall recommend? I prefer them under $150. I need more heavy's and medium heavy's. Currently have a bunch of ML's, a few mediums, and a MH castaway. Looking good at Falcon Buccoos and I'm also considering the Lews Mach combos.
While I'm at, what action do y'all like to use on different lures like cranks, Texas rig, spinners, jigs, etc.. ?
Thanks

Dobyns Fury lineup is tough to beat for the $100 price tag. MH will get you a long way for nearly any technique outside of crankbaits and they have crankbait specific rods as well. I like a heavy rod for anything over a 1/2 ouce that isnt a moving bait. MH for just about everything else.
If you can't find em wind em.

I had a friend snap 3 Bucoo's on the hook set, one was a 3lb'er.. I really like the Powell Inferno, $99. I have 6-7 of them!

I caught my BuCoo's on clearance but they would be worth regular price if I had to do it again. The Dobyn's rods are nice as are the G Loomis ones that you can catch on sale for that price.

The only Dobyns I can find in my area are the Sierra series. And just to be completely honest, I'm not that impressed with them for $160. I'd rather have a BuCoo for $100. I also noticed a Falcon series after Jason Christie? They kind of caught my eye being $100 and made in USA, but I've never heard of them being used.
If I can find someone around here with the Fury rods I'll be sure to go check them out. I wouldn't mind spending $200-$300 on some top of the line rods, but again, I don't get to the lakes as much as I used to, so I just can't justify the price for them.

Based on what I've been able to actually fish with and at/around that price range I would suggest any of the following-
Abu Garcia Veritas- light and sensitive
Abu Garcia Vendetta(little less $$ than the Veritas but still a really good rod)
Bass Pro Carbonlite- I have the older black models so can't 100% vouch for the new ones but I have used the older ones for years with no issues.
Bass Pro Extreme- can't find it online but I swear they have them in store. Red rod and for $60 makes a great truck rod.
Dobyns Fury- I only have 1. Not as impressed with it as I am with the Savvy's but would be a decent MH all around stick. They have the Colt series coming in around $80 that looks interesting at that price point.
Duckett Ghost- I have a cranking rod for this and it works really well for squarebills.

I would definitely give the Bucoo a try. The "Lizard Dragger" (7' Hvy) is a great all around rod for Fineese/football jig, shakey head, texas rig, and so on. it's got awesome sensitivity, you can feel every pebble you drag your bait over. I have a few of them in my arsenal.
The "trap caster" makes for a good spinner bait/top water rod. I think the trap caster is a 7' MH

I've been fishing with Bucoo's since they came out and the only one I broke was after my co-angler stepped on it. I went to cast and it pretty much snapped in half. Guess it's just the luck of the draw

All good rods listed above.
Another good rod for the price is the Academy Ethos (the blue ones) usually right at $70, but will go on clearance every now and then for $30 something.
When the Allstar rods go on clearance every couple of years for $28, pick some of those up also I like their medium rods (very parabolic) for smaller topwaters, jerkbaits, and small cranks.
I'll second the Bucoo, the Falcon Jason Christie Series, and the Vendetta--all good rods for the price.
