I was in a last minute need tonight for a new replacement ignition for my boat ... only place open that had one was Gander Mountain. They may be 5-8 percent higher on many products, but they carry many products other stores simply dont have. Tonight was a good experience. Have to give some positives when they are due.

Didn't realize there were any in texas left since they re-organized to Gander outdoors, I miss the one in waco, their prices were high but they had an excellent firearms selection and would price match.

I always thought the lubbock location was so much better than academy or cabelas. The selection was better and i loved the discount plastics.

Gander is now owned by Camping World, and I see on their website that they have a "Good Sam Club" where the prices are about 5% lower. I don't think there is a price to join.
I'd be curious to know if the prices are still higher than other places after that. Tim

Most that I've been in were more expensive but they did carry some random stuff you definitely couldn't get at an academy

It is gander outdoors now... good Sam club saves you some money, I was just in a hurry last night and didnt sign up. If you havent revisited the store since remodel, its worth taking another look at.

I always like the one in Texarkana, they had a good selection.. they were just over priced.. their firearms were stupid overpriced unless it was a sale, then the price was about average with everyone elses everyday price.. nice store tho and think they were a little more geared to the hipsters and city slickers than a true outdoorsman..

I agree that their inventory has grown, but there inventory is spotty at best. Their gun department is primarily the low end of the market. Lotsa plastic rifles. The cheapest Rugers, Savages, made. There just isn't much variety there, pistols either. As for their fishing department, cheap rods, prices too high, and again a spotty inventory. I don't think I'll be back again. I gave them a try but after the last store closures, you would think they would get it right this time,,,they didn't

I have not been to one yet since the remodel. Are all the references above about the new stores (Gander Outdoors), and not the old ones (Gander Mountain)?
They are not the same; Mountain is bankrupt, and Outdoors is, for all intents and purposes, a new business. I am not sure if Austin is getting one or not.
Thanks for the clarification, Tim

Camping World, must own the Overtons website also. The Gander Outdoors site and Overtons is virtually identical. Havent been to the store by Lake Worth since reopening, and I think it might be the only store in Texas for now.
