Good Evening guys. It's been a hot and humid week down here in the valley and still no rain, the lake is dropping fast and there's nothing we can do about it. The lake is sitting close to 39ft low and now launching off the point at the State Park is getting a little tough. Up on the North end of the lake the bridge in Veleno is showing, so if you're down here and don't have it marked on GPS nows the time to do it. But on a good note there's a few people in town fishing.
Speaking of fishing it's still a slugfest down here and we are catching good numbers and good size. I've had a few trips this week and I'm still targeting rock points throwing crankbaits, carolina rigs, and even a drop shot late in the day. For me the jig bite has slowed down a little but I'm sure you can still hit a homerun with one if you get it in a big girls face. The ledges in Tigers and around marker 3 have been good but most important thing is getting their feeding pattern down and right now the evenings seem to be better than the mornings.
For all you Sugar Lake guys I had my first trip there this week and I was a little worried about it because I hadn't been there in over a month, the last time I was there the fishing was extremely slow. The lake is looking good it's caught a little water and is only about 8ft low. But things are picking up over there, the fish are a little scattered and you can catch them deep on crankbaits or push up shallow with a Texas rigged creature bait and catch them in the trees. Pick your poison, but me personally I like to feel the thump. You can also run a squarebill in those trees but I dont like dealing with all the hang-ups.
I hope the info helps. Have a great week and keep your line tight.
