I have a 2011 Tundra, still using the original battery.

Good Luck,

2-3 years is about all you get out of wet batteries these days. I put an AGM in my truck recently. Will see if it lasts any better.

My Raptor came with an AGM. Hope it lasts cause I'm sure a replacement ain't cheap.

Our '17 Ford F150 XLT 3.5L TT came with an AGM in it because of the "Start-Stop" feature on it.

My '14 Ford F150 XL 3.7L has 61K on it and still has the original battery on it.

Of course the only things electrical on it (other than the engine controls) are the lights, A/C, Am/FM radio, and the wipers.

When I retired in 2016, my 2007 F150 company truck still had the factory battery. That's 9 years folks!

Wifes escape is little over 5 years old 90,000 miles and the battery seems a little weak as of yesterday with the cold snap. Seems to me like cold is much harder on them than heat.

I have found that once they feel a little weak it is time to test and get ready to replace. You need to test the cranking amps and not just volts. I think heat is actually harder on them than cold over the long haul but cold weather may be when you notice the slower cranking. Cold weather seems to make most everything a little harder to start. Exception might be my Optimax. That thing seems to fire right up not matter the temp.

In general, I don't see much reason why you would expect a truck battery to last much longer than a properly maintained boat cranking battery.

I get 2-3 years out of my truck batteries typically, and they always seem to die on a really cold or really hot day, or in the most inopportune times.

If they say it needs to be replaced, I A) wouldn't pay them to do it, but B) would go get it load tested immediately at your favorite shop.

Newer batteries are made of purer lead. This purer lead is prone to cracking I found out the hard way in my
2015 Tundra. Worked great, showing no signs of weaker starting, then bam. It’s completely dead. Broken plate in a cell.

I had to replace the battery in my 2015 F150 about six or seven weeks ago I've had the truck for three years so that's about what I consider normal. I had it in for routine service about two weeks before it went out and it checked out ok, only sign I had of it going out was that morning it had a little drag starting up and so I suspected it was time. I had a meeting at 7am so had to run to that and was lucky one of the tech's left at the same time I did so got a jump, went to the dealer and got a new battery and ordered a Noco Genius GB40 power pack the next day.

My 16 f150 battery went out after a little over 2 years. Replaced it with AGM with 5yr warranty. We'll see.

Man up. Fight the GOOD fight.
