What do you do about the transducer cord when you use your own transducer? The way this thing is designed you cant secure the cord to the shaft. What have you guys come up with?

Several different ways. PM blue nitro. He has his all worked out.
I am using a separate stick now instead of having it on the transducer.

So glad I ran into the deal that I did on my MK Ulterra, hooks right to my Helix 7 and no ugly wires or transducer with hose clamps. I had a MG XI5 on order when I found the deal on the MK so I was almost right there with ya.
2 Bedroom Lake house on CC for rent. P.M. me!

You will need to contact the kind folks at Precision Sonar and ask them for there Cable Guard system for the Xi5. It will run around $140.00.
It's time to "Set The Hook"!!!!!!

Mount the transducer with a trolling motor adapter then wrap the transducer cable around the shaft just above the TM motor then zip tie the cable just below the head. Retracted there will be no slack but you will have some with it deployed. Hasn't been an issue for me and I've been running this way for two years.

Clamp transducer to motor. Deploy motor. Wrap cord aroung shaft up to mounting base. Wrap clear air compressor tubing coil around entire cord length. Place eye bolt 6 inches from motor base into deck. Secure cable to eye leavng 1 ft of slack. Coil remaining cord and secure to sonar mount.
You will need to slit air pressure cable entire length. Stretch and Secure to bench or board and slit with razor knife.
Been runnng mine this way 2-3 days a week over a year with no problems.
I developed this as a modification of what David at Shut up and fish was doing when the Xi5 first came out.

i made a pvc pipe like a retracting paint roller handle clamped it to boat but then i found out they make an adapter cable that plugs into your blue connecter then to your locator $25 works great! Love my Xi5...best thing iv ever bought for my boat!

^^^this, works great, be sure to cut a small piece to wrap where the cable rubs against your mount, couple inches will do.
DON'T LITTER!

Bob, that is a very good instructional. I've done the same as others above have posted where the ducer cable is wrapped around the shaft. However, I do not use an air compressor hose at all, just the ducer cable itself. Then I run the cable up to the white thingamajig (thanks to Blue Nitro) seen in the photos that keeps the cable clear to allow plug in to the HDS. This setup allows for the TM to be completely stowed and locked without pinching the cables. I have a marks on the cable caused by me when I was trying something called the learning curve. Hope the pics help the OP. If DIY is not in the cards, I would use the product David suggested with a Shutup-and-Fish installation.

This is the basics of what I did. It believe it comes from Davids Shut up and fish original setup. I strongly recommend the hose. It will protect the cable if pinched AND keep the cord snug around the shaft. Less potential of snagging. I also ran the cable under the mount to an eye bolt installed on my deck and then to my Helix next to the motor.
