I hit my 100th brushpile goal I set for myself and now that I have my crappie spots all finished up until winter I am using this slow time of crappie guiding to search for the elusive flathead. I am spendiing a stupid amount of time trapping, netting and catching giant bluegill everyday hoping I stumble on a real giant. These are just a warm up (44 and 45lbs) but I'll keep updating my pics as the fish roll in. 7-24 7-25

Not on rod and reel. Trotline. I have a friend that tried to rod and reel them and hasn’t had a flathead over 30 in 2 years of fishing. There are giants here you just have to cover a lot of water with a lot of hooks.

Cameron, You need to check out my- Lynn's Catfish Calendar, especially if you are setting trotlines for Yellows. It assists by letting you know when they will roam & feed. If you are catching them on it all the time (especially on a specific area of hooks), then chances are that your lines (or a portion) are set on a path (or what some call a trail). See the June or July post to access more info on that.

Forgot to add that you would be amazed as to how many use the calendar since I got on TFF. July calendar currently has over 500 hits.
Currently, I too am trying to catch one I nicknamed "The Giant", a big Yellow I estimated at about 115#. However, after my encounter with it on Saturday late afternoon May 5th (Cico de Mayo), 2018, I might need to amend that somewhere between 115 to 150#. While I have never seen it, one of my students is the only one who has.
Since I do not have the 14' MonArk up & running, I may have to rig up the new Alumacraft 12 footer with a side pontoon to make sure "The Giant" does not roll the boat over. Had it not broke the leader, I might have found out if it could turn the boat over. If I can get the rig set up, and Lake Limestone does not get too low before I get back, I just may catch it before the Fall.

If you got the lead on a 100+ Flathead, I'll bring my Bluewave just so you can catch it. He won't roll that.

I was not planning on highjacking this thread, as I want Cameron to keep posting pics & updates. So I'll start a thread on "The Giant".
