Same as bray. I fish weekly in the general area where the creek comes in and always get into a few using shad and bluegill. I have better luck with the bluegill it seems like. Seems like I get a gar for every cat though which can get irritating.

I fish GV a bit since it's 15 min from the house. For Catfish on GV I usually fish the North end of the lake at Trophy club park where Denton Creek flows into the lake. For bait I use cut shad or frozen shrimp they work best, I don't use to much stink bait because you get more dinks using stink bait in my experience. If you can't find shad find a boat dock and use a float and small jig and cut up some bluegill. As others have mentioned use the Santee Cooper rig or you could also put a float on and suspend a bait. GV can be difficult at times so don't get discouraged if you get skunked every now and again on that lake. .
