I wacky rigged a 5" black stick for the first time in years to see how well it would do on a 1/8 oz ballhead jig. The action was as expected except faster on the way to the bottom and bass soon grabbed it. Like most anglers, I always assumed wacky rigged sticks used only bare hooks, but having caught fish on a mini-stick rigged on a 1/32 oz jighead, I figured 1/8 oz should do well.

Over the years I accumulated over a few hundred stick in different colors: black, laminates, watermelon & flake, pumpkin with seed, etc., but never tried them except black which caught my first stick bass and all bass after that.

Does anyone use soft stick colors other than black? Does color matter?

So, I fish the Strike King Ocho, my fave stick bait.
I fish it wacky, weightless, with a VMC weedless hook through an O-ring.
Best color for me has always been watermelon......Green Pumpkin is a close 2nd.
My best luck is always on the edges of grass.

I like green pumpkin or black blue flake. Usually fish them on a #2 worm hook wacky rigged with an o ring. If I want weight I add a split shot above the hook.

My favorite is a Confetti Senko or Mardis Gras Dinger.

Chartreuse is my signature color.
Watermelon colors as well.
Junebug and black blue flake for more dingy water or cloudy days.
I love the Zappu Inchi weedless wacky jigheads 1/8 oz. Eco-Pro Tungsten is another version of that.

3 colors I always take are watermelon, green pumpkin and chartreuse. They all work well, but I believe they go in that order. It is amazing how many fish will bite a chartreuse wacky rig when nothing else seems to work. I hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Can;t go wrong with watermelon red. That's my go-to anyways for just about all kinds of water I have here in OK

Green pumpkin or a black/BLK and Blu are the only 2 colors you need

I like the color code 912 and 221 for wacky rigging, but just about any watermelon combo will work.

Watermelon/candy or watermelon/red alternating with black w/blue fleck... don't normally need any other color, although a bright chartreuse stick at times seems to work when nothing else does.

Seems like we catch the bigger fish on Black Blue Flake regardless of water color
