The cowling on the boat was due for a remake. Decals were faded, paint was looking rough and there were a few ding where chunks of fiberglass had been gouged.

I figured since the boat is at the upholstery shop getting carpet, I would bring the cowling home and customize it.

Sanded it down, filled all of the scratched and dings and shot it with a DuPont black that has red and silver flake in it. It really pops in the sun but you just cant see it in the phone video.

It's gonna look sharp once I get the boat back and put it on.

Finishing up putting the decals back on today...I hate trying to line all of them up.

The first pic is the condition I started with.

I'm wondering why this, and other posts btw, don't have a channel of their own. You know, channels for stuff like "this" and other non-quite fishing stuff. Of course I could be completely wrong. To me, though, repainting a cowling, or selecting the right tire for a trailer, or even discussing the right manufacturer of a fishing rod for use in the rain, for LMBs on Lake Wapanucka, during the 2nd spawn, throwing a 1/2 oz. single, colorado blade spinner, rise to such a position as to have their own place of respect rather than have us simple fisherman have to inflict discussions of actual fishing among these wonderful topics on a single channel currently described as "Bass Fishing".

I know... silly me.

So people like me who's interested in such things can see it without searching endlessly for " outboard motor repainting". Guy is proud of his work and there are probably lots out there who have outboards that could use some updating. That's the only reason I can think of. thumb
