I've checked Lowe's, Home Depot, and Wal Mart with no luck. I know Academy has the Yak Gear kits but $12 for 5 pad eyes?? $30+ for an anchor trolley kit? LMAO!! I've built a few trolleys with store bought parts but now it seems those parts are hard to track down locally.
I know for sure I've bought bags of pad eyes before for like $5.

I bought some plastic pop-rivets from the kayak dealer in Kerrville, years ago. He asked me if I needed any "inchworms"? That's what he called the plastic eye straps. They do resemble an inchworm in transit. Funny.
Sailboat rigging stores sell various size pad eyes in stainless steel, if you need strong ones. They're quite a bit more expensive than the plastic ones, unless you shop the Internet.

Amazon is the best place I've found to get them

I would definitely go stainless steel for any hardware regardless if you fish the salt or not.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
