Made a quick trip Saturday as I needed to be off the lake by no later than 11:00 to drive my 88yr old mom to Missouri City for one of her former students 50th birthday party. Didn't really know what to expect since I had went Thursday after work with a buddy to sink a couple piles and we only managed a few fish off of one pile after sinking two piles and checking some others. Water temps were in the 92-94deg range with one spot being almost 97 and a little stained from the recent rains. I started at 6:30 and it was one fish here and one fish there. At 9:30 with only 7 fish in the box I hit a pile in 17FOW that has been out about a month. Caught a fish on the first drop then nothing for the next 10 or 15 mins. I switched to a deer hair jig with a bright orange tail and chartreuse chenille. I immediately caught 6 fish in the next 10 mins until the bite slowed. Made a short run to one of the piles I had already hit and limited out by 10:45. Pretty much the same pattern as the last couple of months. 15-22FOW fish suspended at 12ft. I really don't know if it was changing colors, the fish finally became hungry or what it was but what started out as a slow morning became fast and furious. It sure is nice to see that the work of putting out brush is finally starting to pay off.
