The root cause of porpoising is driver error. Ya gotta know how to operate the trim.

I met some friends at the Lake this week end, 3 people in a 17' tracker w/50 hp. I was in my ZX250. I had to show them some spots and ran about 28 mph most of the morning without an issue. Other than my own issue of running 28!

I can cruise at 25 mph in my 18fx 20 without porpoising. But I know how to drive the boat.

Proper setup involves engine height, propeller selection, weight distribution, etc. These are the kind of things a "Good dealer" should work with the boat owner to explain IMO. If they hand you the keys & say "Thanks, come back when you want to buy another boat" then that dealer is doing you a disservice.

99 Pantera Classic with a 200 EFI. I can plane at 18 mph without porpoising. I have done it many times from one end of the lake to the other in the dark.
I have never seen a bass boat that I can't make porpoise and have never seen one that I can't flood the rear deck when stopping.

This is funny. I watched a guy in a skeeter at Jacksboro lake the other day run to different spots 3 times just bouncing like crazy. I was like wtf is this guy doing?!
