I have a 18 ft Ranger center console that has an empty weight of 1435 lbs that I’m looking to repower. It has a max hp rating of 175hp. I’m not one that needs to have the ability to go 60 mph. Just looking for thoughts on what a good hp range to look into would be without under powering. Thanks.

Nobody has ever regretted putting the rated motor on their hull. Ever.

Having had and ridden in underpowered boats, go with rated. It's not about going the fastest, it's about getting the best performance out of your hull with the least amount of effort.
