Myself with two friends of mine fished this past Thursday July 12th on Lady Bird Lake in Austin. We launched at Festival Beech. We fished from 6:30am till 2pm. The bite was pretty good from about 7am till 10am and then slowed down the rest of the trip. We caught a about 75 fish between the three of us. Most of the fish were Bluegill in the 7 to 9 inch range. We had eight Bluegill that were in the 10 inch range. We fished across the lake on the south shore line across from the kayak ramp. Small crank baits,Chartreuse/Black got the best results. Fish were holding by grass beds and overhanging tree limbs in 10 to 12 feet of water. Several nice Rios,a few Redear, and a couple of bass rounded out the catch. Soft Plastics Purple and Black got good results on the Rios. The Rios were caught holding by structures in 6 to 10 feet of water. Highlight of the trip was when my friend Jeff hooked onto a carp and got about a three minute ride. The fish ended up breaking his line. All fish were caught on ultralight spinning gear and were released to fight again.

Thanks for the report. I fished that same area a couple months ago. I don't recall that south shore line being that deep though. I fished the grass and it was only about 3 or 4 feet deep in the area I fished. I didn't catch any 10 inch fish either, well done!!

Nice report Curtis. I have not fished LBL this year. The last time I fished there was last October. A friend of mine caught two Bluegill both over 10". They would have easily gone over a pound. Tried to get him to record them but he just threw them back. thumb That lake holds some HUGE sunfish. cheers

Side Note: I do remember a drop off on the south side bank area that was about 10 feet. It was further up river! The bank straight across is 4 to 6 feet deep.
