I fished Grapevine on Thursday from 11 to 2:00pm. The fishing was tough and I had to move a lot but ended up with a decent mess of fish and a few hogs too! Ive been doing well on a couple of rocky points bouncing the jig along the bottom like Im bass fishing. I also caught several spotted bass while doing that which was kinda cool. PM sent

Probably haven't gone anywhere.
Guy and I fished this morning until 11:00 AM. The bite was off compared to last few days but we still managed to land 50 or so with about 15 nice keepers. 1/16 oz jigs worked best but had to fish 1/8 oz most of the time because of the wind. Still had the best luck on 1.25" slab bandit, White or Chart.
Very soft bite. If you haven't fished a lot lately you probably would not even know you got bit.
Pretty good bite on rocks in 9'-10'. Had to slowly fish right on the bottom. If you weren't losing jigs you were doing it wrong.

I tried your suggestion today Ernest and only managed a couple fish. My fish was shallow and was very subtle. My line went slack suddenly was the only indication I had a fish on. No thump on that one. Did get thumped a couple other times but still missed the hookset.
Sounds like im not the only one struggling right now so I can take heart in that. Only been targeting crappie within the last year. Lots to learn.

Go smaller! Ive been using handtied jigs(1/8 with #6 hook with very little chennile and feather) tipped with crappie nibble. if that doesnt work use a tiny minnow

I ALWAYS use a crappie nibble now, because it gives a little more time for a hook up. Might have to go with live minnows, although there was a boat with about 5 people yesterday and they were using live minnows but said they werent catching much either. Thanks for the tip!

There seems to be a theme with these 1/8th oz baits with smaller hooks going on. Here I thought I had zero use for them..... When things get tough, I'll catch a few shad and cut them into tiny pieces. I'll take a 1/32nd oz jig or smaller and tip it with the shad...works like a charm! Great advice as usual Ernest.

Thats gvine in a nutshell. Fish there can get super finicky. Minnows also help.

Downsize is required on most lakes right now. On the Vine, downsize and move, move, move, and keep moving.

Hit the Vine this morning and finally went small mid morning. Just finished a nice dinner of fish Tacos for 5 with enough left overs for some lunch tomorrow. Bait that finally paid off was a 1/24oz head with a 1.25" sour grape Crazy Angler. Fished in brush about 20'-22'
