There was a thread going a while back for the best conservation minded culling system. I saw a few mentioned a several times.. Does anyone remember 1 or 2 that really stood out?
Thanks, Joe

Cal coast 2.0 gets mentioned a lot.
I bought the normal TH Marine system that includes the culling beam but I replaced the penetrating clips with Ardents non-penetrating clips and its a great, sturdy system.
If you can't find em wind em.

Where are you culling 5 lbers? And can you PM me GPS coordinates??
But seriously, I don't know. I wouldn't be holding up a 5 by any culling system.

All of them are going to have issues securely holding larger fish. Obviously some are better than others I wouldn't trust any conservation cull clip to hold a 5lb fish out of the water especially when they head shake. But then again Im not good enough to cull 5lb fish

I bought the Cal Coast a few months ago. Work surprisingly well and holds 5-8lbers just fine. You shouldn't be using your cull rings (of any kind/brand) to be jerking your fish out of the well anyway. I've only had one fish slip a ring and it was a dink on Fork.

Use the old style penetrating clips and just learn where to poke them. If you do it correctly, it only leaves a small hole that will heal over in a few weeks.

I have the Cal Coast 2.0 and it's nice. Got a Seacured brand that I like a lot as well.

Quick 8 Baits makes some great culling clips. I use the TH Marine balance beam for culling.

But seriously, I don't know. I wouldn't be holding up a 5 by any culling system. I have yet to be fortunate enough to cull a 5 lber, but I have fished 2-3 people out of my boat so we use culling tags to identify who caught what.
