Any advice for places to fish for crappie? Fixing to move to the area, and have never been on this lake. Is it a better jigging lake or minnows. Thanks!

I'm not a crappie fishing expert here but know a couple that can catch them daily this time of year. There are brushpiles out there. Some posted on TPWD website and lots of others people put in and they seem to be producing well right now. Guy I know had 50 today. Dock shooting can also be good and there's tons of docks. I plan on hitching a ride with couple guys always catching them and learn something someday soon.

We just moved there too. Still catching the occasional crappie but not enough to consider keeping for a fish fry. We catch 5 bass to each crappie so I'm doing something wrong (or right, I guess) Chartreuse Jigs with white tubes painted with garlic chartreuse scent and a crappie nibble on the hook. I get a few and finally release them as there's not enough to mess with it. We tried to fish some docks but the boat traffic is wild right now. It'll slow down in August. The ones we did catch were in the shade near bridges in 15-20 ft of water

I've been out a few mornings these last couple of weeks. mainly during the week to avoid some of the boat traffic. I've had some success under the bridge. Not great but some. Dead sticking the jig worked alright. Caught a couple of keeper striper as well. If you have side imaging run past the docks and see which have brush and which don't. A lot of docks to fish if not. I'd look at areas/docks/timber in the 10-20' range. Monkey milk/electric chicken/blue ice are the three colors I've used.
