Sorry to hijack this thread but what are the pros / cons of using a quick release bracket? I'm about to put an Ultrex on my boat and was considering the same thing about the quick release.

The release has a base that stays fixed to the hull, that way you can slide the entire trolling motor off without having to remove the thru hull bolts (pain sometimes)

I have one installed on mine because I needed the additional height above the deck.

Why do you need to take off the TM?

I thought about getting the DuraSafe lock for mine. I mean there is only one bolt holding on the majority of the thing.

The quick disconnect only allows you to quickly remove the main part of the trolling motor. If you have a foot controlled trolling motor you will have to remove the foot control and it is usually screwed to the deck.

I just use the bracket as a spacer to get the T/M higher off the deck.

I added the Sliding Quick release bracket for my Ulterra in order to slide motor back during transport and to also to do a quick motor change between Fortex and Ulterra. Aids in removing motor to install cover and security. Highly recommend!

Why would you do a quick release bracket on an ultrex. Its one hex head that holds the unit on the bracket. They designed it for a reason like that instead of being like the old mounts.

I was thinking it would make life easier when sinking brush.
I use the front deck to hall willows and crappie condos.
