I am hauling my 1652 tinny back from TN to Texas. I'll be passing in the vicinity of all three of those lakes. I'll have time to stop at ONE, or possibly TWO of them and fish for a day.
I don't really care about numbers. One 10 lb would be, obviously, be my target.

Any suggestions as where to stay, where to fish (generally), what to use would also be very helpful.

Rich it sounds like Toledo and Rayburn would be the best choice, and you could fish both some since they're so close to each other.

That sounds good. (Toledo and Rayburn). Does anyone know of any lodging on or near Toledo Bend that would be a safe place to keep my tinny overnight? I am not fussy, and my wife isn't going along.

It would be even better if the place had electrical outlets to charge the batteries while I slept. I don't have to be on-the-water.

My rough plan at this point is to arrive mid-afternoon at Toledo Bend, ....fish there that evening...and drive to Rayburn the next morning...fish for a few hours...and then proceed on to my home in Houston.

This trip is kind of exciting to this old (78) codger. I haven't fished Rayburn for 20 years. I did pretty well ( for me) the last time I walked the shoreline at Rayburn near some launches that I no longer remember. I caught a couple of 3-lbrs just fishing the launch sites. I was there for a golf outing but I had a few hours to kill and I ALWAYS have a rod in my car!

p.s. I live in North Houston half of each year. Somehow, I never want to drive 4 / 5 hours to fish the really good lakes in TX. This trip gives me an opportunity, even for a short time, to give them a whack.
