FPH was hot action this morning once I located the fish! After catching a decent amount of white bass and a few hybrids I was about to call it quits when I decided to go check an area again before I left just to see how the fish were behaving and presenting throughout the morning just for my personal notes of studying the lake. Luckily, when I drove across this windblown ledge I found the hybrids ganged up and fired up throughout the water column as I had been looking for all morning! My downrigger went off with a screaming reel and two hybrids on my tandem rig paired #15 pet spoons. This happened over and over again from 10-12 this morning. It didn't take long with me picking at them before the fish stopped suspending and started hugging the floor of the lake in 21 fow but still very very tightly relating to each other on the floor of the lake. It seemed the trick to success was downrigging with my cannonball set inches off the bottom and pulling big #15 pet spoons at that level. When I was set to troll at a depth of 20 feet I would rarely catch fish, drop it down to 21 feet almost dragging the bottom and game on! Fish ranged in size from 4-10 pounds. The 10 pounder was caught on one pet spoon while the other pet spoon had a respectable 7 pounder on it! I didn't take time to weigh or picture with most the big fish....in fact, I usually unhook them in the water and let them swim away as quickly as possible. FPH is such an awesome fertile lake! I caught and released 30-40 hybrids from 10-12 today in the heat of the day solo.
