Ledeez,

Next low wind day with little chance of rain I will try calling in some fish.

Seems I would need to be close to the fish for this to work.
If in shallow water < 15ft guessing could pull in some fish I am not seeing on finder.
For deeper water if I am not seeing fish on finder would it still work?

They are releasing water at just less than 2800 cfs.
There should be some action below the dam.

Oh yeah.. just call them in. When you catch one reeling slow usually gets them going.. Cordell casting spoon with your jig of choice tied 12-18 above is $

Fished out of lavonia south today. Looked all over and never found any schools of fish in brush or on structure.
Could only find a couple spread out pretty thin.
Caught a couple of white bass on minnow with light weight trolling far behind kayak.
Caught a 17" LMB slow trollling on crappie rig with about 1/2 oz weight to help stay down.
Tried worms around trees and brush for some perch only got one bite in about 1 1/2 hour checking out several places.
Overall a pretty slow day.
Ramp and parking was crazy since one of only 3 open corps ramps on the lake and the nice weather today.

Went kayak fishing from Lavonia South for about an hour and a half this evening. Slow trolled shore up to and through railroad bridge a little bit into cove and then back along shore close to brush.
Had jointed minnow with small white rooster tail trailer on one pole, jointed xrap on another and small umbrella rig with small white jigs on third pole.
Left my transducer at home so can not report on seeing any fish or able to locate any schools.
Caught one 12" white bass by the railroad bridge and a 19" LMB off north shore of Lavonia park.
Beautiful night, warm but not hot, barely any breeze.
Although parking lot was pretty full, did not run into many boats.
Top it off with a nice sunset on flat waters.
My daughter came along just wanting to kayak some and got a picture of me with my bass.

Fished out of Lavonia Park tonight. Put kayak in at north end of park where they had the road blocked off because of flooded road to camp site.
This is about where shore turn back to the east.
Tried throwing cast net over flooded grass behind flooded brush for shad. Nothing after several throws as worked down shore.
Trolled along brush and rip rap up to and under the railroad bridge.
Caught one small LMB on the rooster tail behind jointed minnow.
Spent a while trolling around the bridge area.
Only saw a couple schools of fish. One close to shore and others near bridge.
Was not getting any bites so changed out to use a 1/4 oz rooster tail on one poll which I tried throwing across schools and pulling through fish at different depths.
Also put on a 1/16 oz chartruse road runner did same thing with it.
Also had a slab 1/2 to 3/4 oz black and silver..
No bites so let all go down to bottom and raised up to where the fish were. Let mild wind gently push me through the fish.
Managed to catch one 12" crappie on the slab.
Went back to standard trolling setup to work shore back to where I put in.
May have gotten a coupe of bites on way back but did not take the hook so could have run into some brush or something also.
Did catch a lot of submerged brush tonight.
Overall a slow night but beautiful night with pleasantly warm temps, bright sun and very mild winds.
Again, very few boats out near me and once got dark did not see a single boat on the water.
Love being out on the water on nights like this.

Fished a couple hours out of Lavonia around sunset tonight.
Started out throwing the cast net and got one large shad and one perch.
Cut the shad up and put on 2 juglines and a poll. Put the jugs out near the railroad bridge where saw fish and later along riprap where saw fish.
Put out poll with shad while baiting jugs and slow trolled area near bridge.
Trolled Jointed Minnow followed by rooster tail on one poll, a slab on another and 2 jigs on a third while made my way to railroad bridge and back in 15-25 feet of water.
Could see fish in the area between 15-20 feet but only got one small white bass on the rooster tail.
No bites on the jugs or poll with shad tail.
Mild winds and few boats out on the water tonight.
Really pretty sunset tonight.

Hello folks,
Here is an update on crappie fishing the past 2 weeks at Lavon.
I went out last Tuesday and again yesterday, the crappie bite is about as good as it gets.
They are on their normal summertime pattern biting on blk/chartreuse and white/chartreuse jigs.
You can usually pick up 3-8 keepers at each brush pile then it slows down and time to move on.
I took my 11yr old grandson out yesterday and showed him how to fish for crappie, he caught 25.
There was 3 of us fishing and several times we would all have fish on.
Get out there and have fun

Is bank fishing good at Lavonia Park? Where in the park can I go to do it?

I took my wife out yesterday morning for sand bass but they would not cooperate. Fished by the glass house, the island and Little Ridge Point, caught a bunch of little ones 10" or less. Decided to go crappie fishing instead. We did well on them, we fished for crappie for a little over an hour and she caught 15 I caught about the same. They were in 14-17 water on brush piles using blk/chartreuse jigs.
The attached file is a few we kept

Family issues have kept me off the water for a while so it was really nice to be able to get out last night.
Went to Lavonia South and things started out well as I caught well over a hundred shad in first throw of the net.
Decided to slow troll down to dam checking out my waypoints to see if I could find any fish on the way.
Jointed xrap trailing small storm minnow on one rod and 1/4 oz white rooster tail on the other.
I saw fish spread around in 12-20 fow, no schools and no groupings on/near structure.
When got down to the dam put shad out on 3 polls. One thrown toward the dam, one under the kayak and one trailing the kayak
Wind was very light so slowly drifted about .2 - .3mph along dam.
Same thing, could not find any schools or groupings of fish.
Tried hooking shad through mouth, through back, and finally pinching off head and hooking through back.
Tried just letting slowly follow boat and also casting up toward dam and slowly retrieving.
Ended up catching 2 small crappie on shad with head pinched off hooked through the back while trolling.
Switched one rod back to the jointed xrap and storm minnow to slowly troll back to ramp.
Managed 1 LMB under 3" on the storm minnow.
Overall saw several fish but could not figure out how to get them to bite.
Very few boats out and had the whole lake to myself the last 2 hours.

Made my first trip to Avalon park tonight. Mainly trolled around the area trying to see what is there on my finder.
Found some fish in 20-25 feet of water but xrap, rooster tail, and slab would not get them to bite.
Caught some larger shad tonight and had out behind kayak. Lost a couple in hangups but no bites on them.
Might need to try minnows or Jigs next time I go out there.
There is more traffic on the lake here than on the east side.

Had a large block of time yesterday afternoon/evening so had to go try out Lakeland Park. I have seen this park many times from 78 and always looked very pretty and like a good place to fish. Was a little windy so fished some on both the north and south shore of the cove just south of ramp that runs back to 78. After you get a little ways into the cove the water is mainly under 10ft or less except for a few spots on the north side that I found. Caught several big shad which I would cut up and put on a poll under a float behind my kayak. Wanted to fish around brush at shore but at current lake level(1 foot below normal) I did not find any brush in more than 1-2 foot of water.
I did a lot of trolling with jointed xrap and rooster tail. Managed to catch a few striped bass. Went to a few submerged trees to target for catfish with the cut shad but no bites. Did not see much structure in the cove on my finder and not many fish either. Thinking might be best to go to when lake is above normal or in cooler weather when fish go up shallower. Unlike many ramps on Lavon there is no light on at the ramp after dark so need to unload kayak and put on vehicle using headlamp.
