Anybody know the location of a bait shop where we can get a pound of minnows or so for a night fish adventure on Grapevine? Driving over from Plano.

The live bait place on Mill Street in Lewisville sells minnows by the pound. Probably not too far out of your way if driving from McKinney to Grapevine. https://www.facebook.com/Live-Bait-Outlet-of-Lewisville-155757151130385/

The bait at the bait outlet is very high quality and cheap, you can also go to Leroys in Wiley

There is a gas/store at Dallas Drive and Texan Trail that sold minnows. That is just a couple of miles from Katie Woods ramp. Don't know the name of the place.

There use to be a place on Dove. Not sure if it is still there. This of the year I would not even thing about buying bait on Grapevine if in a boat. Just head to the aerator. You could probably even use a fine mesh dip net.

agree with Stump Jumper - aerator is on - just do a run there and throw a net in. you don't even NEED a (dip or otherwise)net.. just throw a treble and drag it through and you'll wacky hook at least 1

If going to the bubbles why use minnows? Just throw Mepps, Little George etc. in there....

Quick update... ended up getting a couple dozen minnows from the marina at Twin Coves and they were fat and healthy... but the wind did not die down and it was almost impossible to stay spot locked on some of our chosen areas. Even in the backs of a couple of coves, the wind made it very difficult. The Riptide was both anchor and splasher! Reports showed 15mph but it was at least 20 and the rollers were 3ft.(or more when the big big boats passed) Add to that it was a Friday night and everybody and their neighbor was on the lake for the fireworks show = Grapevine not the best choice... it was just close. We caught some sandies prior to nightfall on the north shore on some points but you needed rubber legs to stay standing on the deck (24' Pure Bay). I'm a big fan of saying "the wind is your friend" but it was not last night. On the positive side, the drop lights all worked, the lights we installed in gunwale worked perfectly, I remembered my headlamp and no one fell out. Loading out was precarious with the waves but we managed it on the first attempt. I was actually happy to be off the water as it was a "beating". Thanks again for all the suggestions on bait. We'll do better next time....

It was a rough one last night. Wake Boarders and wind made it tough. Had to go sit out by the Glass Cactus to get a break from the wind and waves. We didn't do much fishing since most of my hot spot were on the north shore.

I highly recommend the Windfinder app. It is much more accurate than any report or weather app I've used. It's strictly wind. Kerry showed it to me a couple years ago. It is very handy.

Thanks for Windfinder. Just added it to my phone. Gotta be better than Wundermaps!
