So I just moved to Granbury and I am going fish it this week, my home lake is fork so I never fished this far west. Any advice on running the lake? Looks like there are buoy boat lanes? Is that correct? Also any trouble I should look out for?

Any patterns on that lake developing? I’m sure all the main lake boat docks always hold fish, as well as main lake points this time of year. Thanks guys!

Yes that is boat lane. There are a lot of canals that will hold fish. There is some wood and lots of docks. The only thing you have to worry about is wake boats...

Stay in the boat lanes until you become familiar with the lake. Use your chart maps and follow the bread crumbs if possible. I was 200 ft off of a channel marker, luckily at idle speed and hit a tree top in 29ft of water. Zero damage but had a WTH moment we live in the canals but venture out on the lake to fish mistly

Explore those man made and natural canals thoroughly. Definitely worth your time! Water levels fluctuate based on the mood that the BRA is in...

Ppl who complain about granburys level just have very little experience with lakes that actually have fluctuating levels...

It's dang near constant level, not hard to run other than the idiots in ski boats

I didn't say or imply it was hard to run. My grandparents lived out there in OTS for ~30 years. I grew up fishing the shoreline of the lake. I was just making a commentary on the history of the level of the lake. Constant until early 90s when they used to complain about the rice farmers down river that BRA was catering to. Yes, compared to further west, it is dang near constant level, but nothing like it was through the 80s (higher in general), then in the 2000s, they dropped the 'normal' level, leaving some of the old shoreline uplake high and dry.

Look for rock/wood or Rock/brush combinations. you will find fish in or near by....as mentioned the BOUYs are the channel markers.

There is enough lake for you to fish what you like to fish. You can do just about anything you want there.

Granbury is one of the easier lakes to navigate but it is in no way a “run anywhere” lake. It has a very well marked buoy system accurately marking the boat lane all the way from the river entrance to the dam. There are though many heavily wooded areas just off the channel that will cause damage on plane. Simple: just stay relatively close to the buoys when running and just aim for the next buoy until you learn where the open areas are. Do not however rely on the strobe lights on the buoys after dark. The BRA (Brazos River Authority) that governs and manages the lake does not maintain them. Probably over 1/2 are out of service. Got caught after dark a long way from our ramp recently. Fortunately navigation on graph had saved the trail. Water level does not fluctuate a few inches since the lake finally was allowed to fill back up a few years ago. I live waterfront on the Brazos River by Glen Rose below Granbury dam. Every drop that enters the lake is released. BRA does not allow lake to get 1” above pool. Fishing on Granbury? That’s not as easy(me)! laugh

Any current ideas on Granbury bass? The water is 87 degrees and pretty hard to fish right now. I’m heading there this weekend and would appreciate any direction on how to put some in the boat. Each week that we’re down there, it’s been getting slower and slower. Need some ideas. Thanks in advance for helping me.

I fished there the past 2 days and the fishing was great....

Only thing I'll say is that they aren't doing what you would think they should be doing. Which is usually the case on Lake Granbury. LOL

I agree. Fished a tourney last Saturday out there we caught like 30 or so. Only two keepers though, had a ton of 15.75” fish. ALL of our fish came fairly shallow hugging cover and shade
