Finally back on EML (daily) fishing for LMB. Had not been fishing it regularly with some boat trouble off and on but Ronnie Patterson @ Patterson Marine in Haltom City has me back on the water, and have a slip at Lake Country Marina so I'm back on EML daily.
The pattern that worked for me this weekend was incredibly specific but every time I used it... I caught. Every time. First time that's ever happened for me on EML.
A question for a few of you EML regulars though....
1) How do you handle the wind? This weekend I couldn't really escape it. Do you just fish your style and deal with it or do you try to pick waters that's unaffected it. The wind def has it's pros and cons... Do the regular fisherman see it as more of a pro or a con?
2) Is EML it's own special challenge? I fish EML exclusively and feel like techniques that would work on MOST lakes just don't seem to work on EML. Is EML unique to the other lakes you fish?

Wind really isn't an issue, its the speed boat traffic which has some effects on my spots. Its unique in its own way i guess but i dont fish it much different than any other lake.

used to just stay in the marinas and in the sailboat marina if the wind got up. crankbaits work well if there's wind current. shad get pushed up against the breakers and it's a buffet table

Eagle mountain is always easy for me to pattern what they ARE NOT EATING!! Like OP said it patterns different from other lakes I guess I need to spend some more time on the water there and figure it out

You ask for advise from others but don't even tell others what this "incredibly specific pattern that you caught fish EVERY time you used it" was?

I have never seen a unique pattern from Eagle to any other lake. They pattern really well in the summer and will normally last 3 months (June-August). Now 8-13ft they will stay consistent, 13-25ft they seem to change day to day on what they want to eat. They love Kick N Bass Java on that lake. Wind is your friend.

Green Soft Plastics with some sort of tail/appendage Clear Water Long Casts dont get the boat too close Isolated grass on the banks in shallow water. Fish there every time.

The lake is drying up. We need rain and it doesn't look like were going to get any.

Do lakes with constant water levels fish differently than lakes that go up and down?

If the lake stayed constant there would be good fishing in the water willow and reeds during the summer. If the water drops, those fish can't get into the vegetation.
