Fishing is still very good on Lavon fishing brush/Timber in 14-23 water. Most have been 14-17 deep in the water column no matter the depth of water. Sun and a little breeze are the best conditions but its been a lot of coulds and heavy winds. On those days you will have to cover more water as it will be 1-2 here and there. The fish just do not have to get in and around the cover under those conditions. I use white/Chartreuse 95% of the time this time of year no matter the lake but sometimes when its cloudy a darker bait will help a little. Fished Thursday under perfect conditions and we caught 50-60 keepers in less than 3 hours. Fish are there this weather has just made it a little tougher. Ran two trips last Sunday on Fork in the hurricane and we kept 73 out of a possible 100. I am always disappointed when we do not limit but under those conditions it was all we could do. Ran trips Tuesday and Wednesday and it was even tougher. Wind and clouds are not good for Crappie fishing and it made it a grind. A fish here and there and did not limit on either trip. Quality makes up for numbers sometimes and we had big fish on every trip. Yesterday I added an Ultrex to my boat so Paul OBier and myself went to Fork to fish and see if the hype is real on the Ultrex. I can say I think I will love the Ultrex. I only care about spot loc and its going to really help in the wind. Im excited about it. We fished both arms of Fork and fought the wind but we caught some pigs! When we could get out of the wind a little and the sun really put them where they should be. You could call your shot if you found a tree with a limb at the right depth. Luckily we know lots of those trees. Same pattern, 15-27 water suspended 12-18 deep. White/Chartreuse jigs if the sun is out and may go a little darker with cloudy conditions. Most of the time its not the color that stops the bite as much as the fish are just not there. Out of 50 keepers yesterday we had about 20 fish 1.50# or better up to 2# range. Fork is just a dream for a timber fisherman. I have a couple days this week open for either lake. Good fishing,

About two weeks from now, you'll fight anybody that tries to take that Ultrex.

Thanks for the report. I love my Ultrex as well, I couldn't fish without it ,makes fishing so much easier.
