The rain cooled the surface water down a little and the weather conditions were perfect Thursday. Little to no wind and over cast skies. I arrived late in the day, around 2:30 pm and it was hot. About 6pm the bite started out in 18 to 20 FOW, plus on this trip I caught some good quality fish. I caught them on top water bait, T/R plastic and C/R plastic. I did throw a crank bait here and there but never got a hit. The shallow water bite was not there at this time in the day either, but that could be because the water temp was at 94 degrees shallow. I found some water at 80 to 82 degrees and that's where there was a better bite at. Over all day was good, put 25 bass on the deck with a 5, 4.11 and 4.8 for my big bass, plus a bunch of 3 lb. bass. Good quality fish and a much needed fun trip. I do not fish as much as I use to, so when I do go, I can only hope it turns out to be a good day and this trip was a good one..... Tight lines everyone, fishytx..

I had a half once weight on the C/R, so the bait gets to the bottom pretty quick and the fishing part starts. The two heavy four pound bass were caught on a top water bait, plus several more on it as well. I'm a top water junky so I like to fish it often. It does not make any difference on what time of day it is either. If a spot looks like there might be a top water bite, I throw it over there and give it a try. I have several rods set up for different types of fishing so all I have to do is put one down and grab the other. I will not stack my deck though, I only like to keep about four rods out at a time, any more than that seems to get a little sloppy and in the way. Plus I have been known to step on the eyes from time to time, or my partner will step on them, so I try to keep the deck somewhat trip hazard safe.
