Who uses this method? What type of results do you get?

I do not use the drop shot method. I do have friends that do and they get very good results! They say the drop shot method exposes the bait better especially worms.

I use both ultralight spinning gear and fly gear while fishing for "pan fish"! When using my spinning gear I use the drop shot! I get good play on my baits while bouncing them off of the bottom! Gulp Alive Worms and Gulp Alive Minnows get some very good results!

Keeps the bait right in front of their face

Don't use it. Judging by past post the anglers who do use it do not do bad at all and seem to get pretty good results! It makes since that a fish would be able to see the bait better if just off of the bottom!

I use weightless and drop shot fishing hydrilla beds or if there is a lot of big rocks I'll tie my dropper loop and just barely squeeze split shot on so if it gets hung the shot will just slip of and won't have to break off

The results are usually nice fish cause I only use that method in clear water so I can see what I'm after

Thanks guys for in input. I kind of figured that the drop shot would get good results. Side Note: Also fishing weightless is a good method especially in close quarters with with a lot of structure on the bottom. (Rocks, logs, sticks, weeds, etc.)

When I first started crappie fishing with minnows years ago I used it 99% of the time. I just felt I could detect the bite better with it. Especially when the fish would pick up the bait and rise in the water column. I could see the line go slack and knew a fish had taken the bait. With the weight above the hook I was unable to see the line go slack because the weight was still keeping the line tight.

I also like the drop shot. I prefer to use it with the standout hooks. Now, this is my first year using them, but with those standout hooks, I was able to work in snags i'd never have dreamed of dropping a regular hook into. Having the weight below the hook gives you a chance to use that weight to back out of a light snag.
