Do any of you guys ever 'fizz" stripers to release air from their swim bladders so they can be turned back and survive? If so, does it work for you and where are you making the puncture? I had a couple of legal fish Saturday that I would have like to turned back and tried for larger fish but I didn't want to waste the fish by running the risk of them dying (they were belly up in the livewell). They were about 32 ft deep when caught.

It's inexpensive, and easy to keep stored on your boat. When fishing, keep it rigged on a spare rod with a large enough weight to pull the fish back down.

If you pull stripers up into 80 degree water like we have now nothing will help. Most of those stripers will die. The best temp for stripers is 55 degrees. They like the same water temp as trout but survive in big lakes by going deep. For example, yesterday I forgot my landing net. Just letting the stripers I caught swim around in that hot surface water caused them to lay on their side and scooped them into my boat. This time of year you need to put them in the ice chest and eat them.
