If you can, sell your house and buy a new one. You don't want to go through the living hell of roofing a house. There is no quality control, some shingles get 4 nails, some get maybe 2. I will say a prayer for you.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

FYI insurance is a contract stating for a premium covered losses will be paid by insurance companions minus the insurers costs which is their premiums and deductible. No lie many dont pay deductibles but not paying deductible and contractor submitting invoice for full amount of claim like ded was paid is complete fraud and 100% against what insurance is intended to do.

What I dont understand is you saying a contractor submitted an invoice and somehow committed fraud.

I just went thru this. Got my fiirst check and had mortgage company endorse it. I put it in the bank. Job was done and I notified adjuster it was finished. Adjuster paid me the 2nd check made out to me and mortgage company. I had mtg company endorse it and deposited it in my bank account. I wrote the roofer a check for an agreed amount. No one submitted any invoices. The adjuster determined the scope of work and what the claim value was.

I understand you work for an insurance company. When I sold cars I told people the MSRP was what the manufacturer determined the car was worth. This is no different in my mind. Both statements are designed to get someone to pay more than they have to.

Let me explain it a different way. If you go in for surgery and a Dr agrees to do the work for what the insurance company pays, is that fraud? Heck no...in both instances the insurance company determined what to pay.

Bottom line is an adjuster writes an estimate for what it should take to make customer whole. Part of insurance agreement is that customer pays deductible. If an invoice is submitted stating the entire estimated amount was needed to complete the work yet contractor doesnt collect deductible that is fraud plain and simple. Insurance companies owe for reasonable cost to make you whole and have a tool to help determine that cost that is more than plentiful for contractors. Submitting an invoice for entire amount of a claim yet claim yet not collecting a deductible is against signed contract and drives insurance premiums up. Plain and simple fact!

You have been drinking too much kool aid from your training classes. If you subtract my deductible from what you pay me, whether I add that back to what I pay someone or keep it in my pocket has zero bearing on insurance costs. Youre the one who determined the value of the job and subtracted the deductible.

Obviously we arent going to change any ones mind here

And again.... youre going on with the submitting an invoice stuff.

My previous roof when I was in Irving, Insurance came out and wrote me a check.

I fixed the house a few years later before I sold it.

I didn't go through all this BS of deductibles, etc that everyone on here talks about
