If I grab my steering wheel , I can wiggle it up n down a little. Maybe a 1/2 an inch to an inch , is the normal for skeeters ??? Or do I need to make sum adjustments?

No. Its NOT normal. Is it NEW? Or new to YOU?
Hydraulic steering? Tilt steering helm?
If NEW, take it back to dealer. Sounds like a mistake in helm mounting OR the tilt lock is not engaged fully.
If not a NEW boat, check the helm mounting bolts/nuts (4) for being tight through console.
