Fished the lake yesterday and the water looks nice. Water temp was 90 to 92 degrees. Water clarity was six to seven feet, really looks nice. Caught several schooling on top, several on top around grass beds and a few out on the outside edge of grass with plastic. Put 18 bass in the boat but nothing big enough to satisfy my fishing fix. Fish were a pound to two pounds most. Fun day though....

Bastrop is a good lake to gain confidence using a certain technique you might not be comfortable with, lots of aggressive little bass!

I catch fish on this lake but there is just something about it I don't care for. I know the road I take there is dangers so that is one factor. Never have really liked it and really cannot explain why. I know I don't catch as many quality fish as I do on Fayette. That's my go to lake, I love it. I catch decent size fish and the numbers....

I would say 21. That road has a lot of fast-moving traffic on it. When I come from the North Shore park, I have to turn left onto 21. With a boat and trailer, you have to wait for your shot. When I turn left, I get in the far right lane and PUNCH it! There will be cars coming up on your butt. Let em go around!

Be safe,

Leaving south shore and headed north on 21 is bad too, that's the one I deal with. Speed limit there is 55 so it isn't as bad as it could be, but you really have to pay attention. I cross one section at a time and you cannot see the traffic going north due to the trees in the middle. But on hw. 21 to my exit onto hw 77 is what I don't like. Lot of sharp curves in the road at 70 mph. People are either not paying attention to these curves, or they are on their stupid phones.... On my last trip there was an area with orange spray paint all over the road and you could see where a vehicle had burned up. I did a number on the pavement as well. The orange spray paint started in my lane and it went over to the on coming traffic side by the shoulder. There was about a fifty yard skid mark and it appeared that the vehicle was out of control in a spin.

Yes the road I'm speaking about is Hw. 21. Horrible road with a ton of accidents on it all the time. I see so many (guard rail damage ahead) sighs on it all the time. In a 30 mile drive there will be around four if not more signs up. Really was shocked that I did not see any on this last trip, only that one spot where I saw all of the orange spray paint all over the road.
