If using for dual purpose I suggest a 31 series though

Used them for about a season. Not a fan Me either. Never got more than about a year extra out of em at double the cost.

For the price best trolling motor AGM battery is a Duracell AGM 31 series from Sam's club at $179. For a value dual purpose, the exide mega cycle AGM 31 has held up running 2 mega 12's, 2 power poles, pumps all day and an 1197 up front. Still no issues cranking a 250 etec at the end of the day

31 series. I bought a 2002 boat with 4 31 Optimas in it in 2005. I dont know how old they were when I got it but 7 years later I replaced the cranking battery. I cant believe how long they lasted.

I've had mine (same ones) in two different boats. So far. Excellent batteries. I have a group 35DM on my motor, a group 27 on my electronics that's charged via the motors built in isolator, and two group 31's on my Ultrex. I use a 4 bank charger every time I park the trailer .....every time. And I only unplug the boat to go fishing.
I think if you take care of them, they can last a very long time.

I have 4 D31M.
I do same as Steez, boat always plugged in. Batteries only 3+ years old but havent ran them down yet.
Have spent a few weekends at places where I couldnt charge batteries all weekend, still as strong when I left as they were when I arrived.
I have no experience with other AGMs so cant say the blue tops are better, but I have no regrets.
My first trip out with them I blew a fuse for EFI 4+ miles from launch. Had to troll back into a stiff wind about 3 of those miles then cross wind. This was after fishing for several hours beforehand. Have been more than impressed with them.
Yeah I learned there were fuses under Cowling after we trolled back, had a spare and everything.

I have had optima last 7 years and I stuck them in other stuff to get rid of them.. always plugged in. Not sure why people are always bagging on them. That said I have this now and its powering me all day, 4 helix 12inch, 360, livewells, etc. It was in my boat when I got it and a semi pro fisherman told me its hands down the best out there for my needs. So far hes been right. https://www.batteriesplus.com/Battery/Marine-and-Boat/Deep-Cycle/BCI-Group-31M/SLI31AGMDPM

Not 'bagging' on them. Just my experience. Ran deka's in my diesel truck, Optima in a car, Optima in my boat. All got about an extra year or maybe a little more than my lead acids at 2-2.5 the price. They're better. They're just not that much better.

The best on the market in my opinion is an Odyssey pc2150 for dual purpose cranking. For trolling motor, you have more options and lots of batteries are manufactured by the same company. Duracell is made by Deka, etc

I had a trio still running strong after 7 years when I sold my last boat. I will replace the ones in my new boat with blue tops when the time comes

I run the 31m blue top series. Great batteries. Never a problem
