Nothing happens when cranking with the key...at all...no sounds...no nothin'.
Working with absolutely no problems one day then dead the next.
Pull start fires it right up.

I'm guessing it's the starter solenoid. If someone could post or reference good detailed instructions on testing this I would appreciate it.

Unless there are some other things I should check first. (battery is newish and charged, power from ignition is reaching motor)

I had a similar problem once & found a burned out 20amp fuse under the motor cover(50hp Johnson). Replaced it & it popped again.... Turns out, my tach was bad..... Replaced it & that solved the problem.

The fuses in the boat are all fine, but didn't notice any under the cover...I'll have to trace the wires when I get back to check that.

Thanks for the input.

Possible wire broken in the switch? You have it in neutral when turning key?

I've checked the entire throttle side (took the casing out to be sure) and found a fuse in the wiring under the cowling. All is well from that side. Turning the key is sending signal all the way to the motor (get a click when it's hooked up, but not when disconnected...so that's what I'm assuming that means).

A friend told me that since it still runs as normal when pulled that it has to be something on the battery side. So either the battery, a wire connection, or the starter/solenoid.

The battery is good double checked, charged, and hooked up to another to be sure. The connections have been cleaned and the cables looked over.

I guess next I'll need to go get a voltmeter to see how much, if any, power is getting to/thru the starter/solenoid set up.

If that doesn't provide any answers I'll be back here begging for help.
