Anybody have an update on when they are gonna start working again went to look a month ago and still nothing done but the bottom of the ramp being torn out and a shelf cut in the hill Would I get in trouble if I launched anyway I saw a spot that would work.

Have a good friend that works for the city he said they are just waiting on the TPWD to approve the grant for the rest of the retaining wall to build the ramp thats all i know

Haven't they been dragging their feet on this for a long long time?

The part of the entire process that made the least amount of sense was when they closed the ramp months before having an exact plan much less a starting date.

Update from city of Alvarado (12 DEC 2018)

Progress is well underway. The new ramp has been poured and some of the flatwork done. Parking lot, restrooms, lighting and some other things remain. I would hope we will be ready to open by early spring!!

Heck might have it open by the end of summer

If you can get a kayak or have a friend with access they are smashing them there right now

There's a place just down the road that has a kayaks for rent sign. Don't know anything about it though.

Progress, should be finished in a year or so.

One of poorer managed repairs I�ve seen. Glad they are finally cleaning that place up, repairing and making it more user friendly but will never understand why they closed it so many months before they had a plan or were even close to starting. Was not like you were going to hurt what was already in place.

Wonder if they'll let you fish off the dock right now.

The plan says it's 28' wide, so that should be wide enough for two lanes.

I sure hope when the replace the Tradinghouse ramp in Waco later this year it goes smoother than this sh#tshow has

Not to hijack this thread, but I asked Tradinghouse on Facebook if the had an ETA on when the renovations would start and I got a NO.

They did ask a couple months ago, what folks would like to see for the renovation, that they could take to the county for approval.

... If your actually interested, I would point you in the direction of the wonderful laws/codes surrounding the building of these ramps with the grant that City of Alvarado received. SPECIFICALLY look into the number of parking spaces required if you cut the concrete to be a "two lane ramp"... then look at the amount of space the park has to work with... SOOOO.... grooves show a single lane ramp... but it is WIDE.... PLENTY WIDE for 2, BUUT officially as far as the state is converned, grooves are cut for 1... quite a bit of thought was put into this design and the problems the project created.

I know some of the slow down issues early on were contractor issues... it was a cluster for sure... Now I ASSUME that it is just weather holding them up. But I have not heard when they will get back at it

Also be glad that they are actually DOING something... Cleburne got the same grant for new ramp at Pat, it was designed... I looked at drawings... then Cleburne GAVE THE GRANT MONEY BACK AND SHELVED THE PROJECT... Your never going to have more money than when somebody GIVES it too you. No it wouldn't cover the whole thing, but COME ON. This would have been a HUGE improvement at a huge discount... but nope

Just put a lane divider down the middle of the ramp like they have at Bastrop, its high enough that most trailers can't go down the middle without hitting the concrete.

The last picture is what the boat ramp looks like at the water's edge. It has grooves.

Still closed even to bank fishing, as expected but thought I'd call and ask anyway.

In all honesty.... yep it's a PITA!! But, Look at the benefit of the lake getting VERY little pressure before,during & just after the spawn. Maybe there will be a high survival rate for the fry.

Its a PITA because the City is incompetent and mismanaged this from the word GO..... If I was a tax payer in the city of Alverado I would been furious.

Fished Cleburne Memorial day, on the way back we stopped in at Alvarado to gauge progress. Two boat trailers, a couple of kayak rigs, a man and boy bank fishing, and a family swimming. The ramp had been used, but the concrete hasn't been poured to top of hill. I didn't notice any closed signs either.

As of JUN 7, no changes to the parking lot. There is a set of nice toilets on the end of the old parking lot.

Yep the party's over now, crushed them the last few times while the parking lot was still sand.

Launched before daylight looked like everybody got the news it was packed.
Whole parking area was packed tight. Really nice ramp and dock .
