My deep cycle battery when charged up, the green light fads on and off. Does this mean it is not holding a charge and going bad? I just bought the battery in February.

Here is my question or hypothesis, when in maintenance mode, a new battery the light will turn green and stays green because it holds its charge. When battery is going bad, light fades off because it is losing its charge and starts charging again, then quickly reaches fully charged threshold and light comes back on. Thus the on and off...Is this right?

Best way to tell would be to go to the manufacturer web site that made your charger, look up your model and download the operating manual. Thats way better than asking here because out of 5 people you may get 5 different answers. Not saying you cant get good advice here but my question would be out of the 5 answers how many are running the same Make/Model charger as yours. They may not all work/show the same.

This is what the manual says...

Does not really answer my question. Which is, what does it mean when the green light goes on and off. I know it means it is switching from maint mode to charge mode, but does this mean battery is going bad because it does not hold a charge. A new battery does not do this. It turns green and stays green (charged).

Im probably over thinking this. I thought it was an easy question but I guess not. Ill try calling the customer support.

You might go to an auto parts store and have it load tested.

It seems clear to me that the battery is charged and the charger is topping it off/maintaining it. That's how most maintainers indicate. You can disconnect the charger and measure battery voltage to confirm.
