I have a 16 foot Lowe aluminum boat with 40 hp motor. I am getting it rigged out for bass fishing. I am looking at a 55lb 12 volt trolling motor. My question is will a 12v allow me to fish a few hours a day? I dont have a lot of room for 3 batteries or I would get a 24v. I plan on having a starting battery and a trolling motor battery due to space and weight. I am just not sure if a 12v will keep me going a couple of hours.
Thanks

If it is one of the newer (last several years) TMs then you will be fine for fishing 8-10 hours a day with no issues. The older ones still would do it but they are not as efficient as the newer ones. 24v would be overkill for you.

What will keep you on the water longer is a battery with high reserve capacity. Look for one with 180 to 200 RC.

I fish all day with no issues out of a 17' Triton aluminum boat with a 12V MK with no problems as long as I am not in a heavy river current situation.

The 12V trolling motors are pretty efficient, however, be sure and get as big of battery (high RC) as possible.
