I like 1oz led egg weights for all around. They seem to come thru cover good for me and they are cheap. If I'm predominantly around rock I'll go to a tungsten bullet weight with brass and beads for the noise sometimes. Sometimes it won't last long due to having numerous fish pick up the weight.
I can backlash toilet paper.

Lead egg, three beads and a bobber stop (under the weight vs. over)v. Almost always. But especially if i'm throwing tungsten the weigh will knock the hell out of your knot if you get hung up.

Don't all three of these work virtually the same?

Don't all three of these work virtually the same? Sorta. Brass is louder. Tungsten probably is too and more sensitive. But if i'm dragging i've already scanned it and know what's down there. i just roll with lead most of the time.

Lead, its a lot cheaper, throw it in braid and you get super sensitivity.

I use brass, depending on how much the wind is blowing, anything from a 3/8s to 1.25 oz weight. I try to throw as LIGHT of a rig as possible, and let the fish tell you what is right. Depends on teh bait as well. If I am throwing flukes, lighter the better. If I am throwing 10-12" worms, heavier is better. So, no set answer to weight. I use brass led for most things and brass brass for T's. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

For those who use lead, do you prefer a glass or plastic bead?

I use 1/4 oz to 1 oz lead bullet weights depending on the water depth and size of the bait. I've also had a lot of luck with the clam shell weights around heavy grass or rock. I tried the tungsten weights, but the tungsten is so hard it kept breaking the beads on the c-rig.

I fish my c rig with a 1 or 1-1/2 ounce tungsten. I also use 65lb. braid to a SPro swivel and around a 3-4ft 20lb InvisX leader.
Seldom lose the weight, but often lose the hook and leader.

1 oz. egg lead for deep water.
1/2 oz. bullet lead for shallow.
