Before I read your post, I looked at the pictures. Thought to myself, man Vogey had a heck of a day. Then I read your report and suspicions were verified. Thats awesome, we live for days like that! Well done and enjoyed your pictures as always. No need to apologize for too many pics, their allure is part of what makes them great.

Thanks guys...And Banker...I wasn't feeling bad, you must be getting me mixed up with someone else. Here's more info on the trip...Plan was to spend more time trying out Crickethooks methods with the Thill float or drop shot in deeper water around trees. But they just never stopped biting so it was hard to leave. I did end up catching around 5 or 6 out in the trees deeper, so I think they are on the verge of moving out. Saw lots of fry in the shallows...maybe they were there to protect them from bass etc. One thing that's changing at Fayette is the emergence of the spiny leaf Naiad grass. It is now pretty much everywhere in the shallows...I think this may be a good thing as it gives them a better habitat. It sure is nice pulling up green vegetation instead of black slime...

Laker...I assume you will be fishing from your kayak at Fayette. Do you launch from Park Prairie Park or Oak Thicket ? How far do you go in your kayak...can you fish the entire lake, or are you limited to the areas closer to the parks ? Let me know b4 u go & I will give u more detail...

Awesome! Best kept secret in Texas. The place has some great fishing for panfish that is rarely tapped. There is a tournament in August each year where you weigh in the best 50. I think the signup is at the general store by Park Prairi.

Crickethook...The game warden told me about that tournament as he was checking my equipment & fishing license out. I told him that 50 per person seems way too high & he said he didn't think it would do much damage to the fishery...not so sure about that ? It's funny, but I have fished for these guys all over the lake, and only found them in 3 main areas...

Great post as always Vogey. Those are some slabs. Always enjoy reading your post.
Side Note: A fifty fish tournament is a lot of fish. I liked what the Game Warden stated that he did not think the tournament would do much damage. Damage is damage no matter how much! Just my two cents. How long have those tournaments been going on? First I have heard of it and I have fished Fayette a lot over the years.
